TimeZarrow, originally called Time's Arrow, was founded in 2001 by George Downey, Ian Downey, and Tom Bell. It evolved from a project to create a demo for a local female singer/song-writer, with help from Jesse Barrowcliff on bass. Once the demo was done, the three formed Time's Arrow. Jesse was busy with other projects, and after a few months Jerry Osborn joined on bass.
That formation played local parties in the Medina area, along with some area venues, such as The Greenville Inn in Bainbridge and Yianni's in Brunswick. It also produced a "home-recorded" cd, called Live From the Basement, and later recorded an EP, Bad Seeds From Time's Arrow, at Revolution Studio in Lodi, which was mastered by Audioworks Recording Studios in Parma. The band featured songs by George Downey and Tom Bell. Some line-up changes ensued soon thereafter, with Tom Bell leaving the band in 2002, then returning briefly in 2003. George decided to change the name to timeZarrow, to give it a unique identity. The band played The Lime Spider and Pat's In the Flats (as part of the Cleveland Music Festival), as well as some local parties early in 2003 as a trio. Jerry Osborn left the band in the late spring, with Tom returning about the same time, and Dave Vargo taking over the bass duties. The band played The Outback Festival in Litchfield., OH that summer, along with other party and festival-type events, including the growing Miafest and Jimboree events near Nashville, OH.
The band went on a hiatus over the winter that year, continuing only to work on a new recording project, and in the Spring of 2004 Tom and Ian both left the band. George and Dave continued to pursue the project and after awhile added Jim Dewey on guitar. Jim had been a fan of the band since the beginning, and also had done some work on the band website. It wasn't until February of 2005 that Ian Witt joined on drums, bringing the band back to full strength. Over the Spring, the band rehearsed and finished up the recording on the new full-length cd recorded once again at Revolution Studio in Lodi, with mastering by Audioworks in Parma. Once cover artwork is finished, the band will offer the cd for sale at shows and via the internet.
Soon after Ian Witt (known as #2 or the Deuce, being the second timeZarrow drummer named Ian) joined, the band played an acoustic show at The Village Inn in Chippewa Lake with Ian Downey sitting in due to Ian Witt's previous engagement. Since then, the band has started to play out on a limited basis while expanding and refining its repertoire, which is mainly songs written by George Downey, with a few by Jim Dewey, and select covers.
The band has resumed it's role as the house-band for the Miafest and Jimboree mini-festival events which are hosted by Jim Dewey at his pastoral home on a hill near Nashville, OH. They also have appeared again at the Village Inn in Chippewa Lake, The R/E Nightclub in Akron, and at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park. As they build the repertoire, they will be accepting more bookings at local bars, clubs, parties, and festival events.
